If you need an official translation of a birth certificate or a translation of a marriage certificate issued outside Serbia, in order to register a certain life event in Serbian vital records, there are a few things you need to know.
Based on many years of experience of the translation agency Laurus Translations, we advise you to always consult with the authority where you need to submit the translation, but what turned out to be the rule is that at the end of the process you must submit the original document (birth certificate, marriage certificate) to the court interpreter before you submit it to the registrar’s office.
Also, these documents issued abroad usually require additional certification before the translation is done, which means that if, for example, it is a translation of a marriage certificate that needs to be translated from the English language, when you want to register a marriage solemnized abroad in Serbia, the certificate must be certified with the Apostille stamp in the country where the original certificate was issued, if it is a country where such certification is possible (e.g. Great Britain, USA), or, if that is not the case, it should be legalized in the diplomatic-consular mission of the country where it was issued (e.g. Canada).
We at Laurus Translations are aware that administrative procedures can be very complicated and difficult, so our translators are at your disposal for any advice, in order to make the whole procedure as easy and simple as possible for you!
Based on many years of experience, we advise you to always consult with the authority where you need to submit the translation.
